Choosing Outfits

Good wardrobe can honestly make or break a gallery. No matter how beautiful the landscape or how talented the photographer, it’s difficult to make a gorgeous photo when one person wears red, one person wears black, one person wears green, etc. It just seems too incohesive.

The colors photographers said they struggle with the most: 🔴red, 🔵blue (navy) and ⚪️white.

But keep reading— there are exceptions & nuances to this discussion.

-Bleached white is very stark - opt for cream instead. It works with most editing styles and is always a winner.
-Fireengine red is very bright - opt for rust & wine colors instead.
-Navy & black are tough because they’re such dark, shadowy colors. (But I’ve seen moody photographers rock that palette! Consider the aesthetic you are going for… is it bright and airy? Choose lighter colors! Is it dark and moody? Choose darker earth or jewel tones!)
-Blue is fine in small doses, but it is hard when everyone in the family wears shades of blue because it makes the skin tones look cool and pale, instead of warm and vibrant.

Do this instead: style your family around color PALETTES instead. Choose a pastel, neutral, or earthy palette tone, and every article of clothing needs to be in that similar tone range.

With everyone wearing a similar color palette range, the overall photo gallery will seem cohesive and aesthetically pleasing.

The most important thing overall is to make sure you are comfortable and confident in whatever you are wearing. Don’t stress and shoot me a text if you have any questions or want further advice!
